Literature Text

the shifting light
breaks over your head
as you’re caught in the current

you take your wars with you
and you forget where you came from
you only remember what’s ahead

it takes decisive selection
knowing what to leave behind
hoping you won’t need it

even though you know
the sand below your feet is shifting
and you float in that wave

just below the surface
where you can see out but none see in
there are silver stars above and scales below

and half-seen forms
the giants you couldn’t escape but won’t have to
the greatest peace wrapped up in fear

you don’t have to worry
the hunters have gone on without you
you’re finally asleep

Sounds like dying, and going home.
